RETURN OF THE ANGRY GUITARS...?! where my vdr alumni at
[ it's been quiet, hasn't it?
the city isn't abandoned, or anything like that— there's still the ever-present and bustling population of Monars up to their usual zany nonsense, the occasional long-term resident going about their lives. however, the assorted castles (how many even are there, now?!) have been gathering dust. the active war zone has been decidedly in active. the Dressing Room... has become normal.
which means the loud rumble of an incoming engine might actually turn some heads as a bus roars into town, heading straight for the much-abused (and yet still somehow miraculously intact— just like its owner!) tour bus— and screeches to a halt just in time to give it the gentlest of taps. it idles there for a few moments before the doors slide open to discharge a group of disgruntled, complaining passengers— one of whom might look very familiar to old faces.
...or, well. two of whom, actually; the pair that speedwalks the hell out of the bus's potential warpath might as well be twins. the girl trailing behind is shorter by a few inches, but aside from that they're nearly identical: same dark blue hair and eyes (albeit a little duller on the girl), same broad-shouldered build, same straight-backed posture. the same healed-over surgical scars.
they both look over the town with just as similar variations on the particular dead-eyed weariness that comes from traveling in cramped quarters for way too long before the man lets out a huge sigh, shoulders slumping with visible relief. ]
This is it...?
This is it. It's been a while... I'm surprised. It doesn't seem to have changed much.
[ —which is when the backpack Kaito is wearing turns out not to be a backpack at all, a head popping up to look over his shoulders as the much shorter girl piggybacking on him shifts her grip for a better view. ]
Huh. Well, I've certainly seen worse as far as these kinds of places go... lucky us, though, that means we've already got our tour guide. Right, "big brother"~?
((who wants to party like it's 2012. 2013? don't make me think about how long it's been please. feel free to have your characters returning off the same bus or other transportation or whatever if they weren't mysteriously here the whole time.and yes, I did just dump three AUs of the same character in here. behold, my true form...! ...i'm so sorry haha
also heads up for any of y'all with psychic/magic/whatever senses: IT'S A MESS OVER HERE))

The building itself seems to operate not unlike the town does--much larger than it seems at first, with a sizable and uniquely varied stock of text to choose from. Plenty of titles from other worlds, I'm sure, though I haven't gone looking for those myself.
no subject
Mm, I see. I'm admittedly somewhat more interested in the atmosphere than the contents— I happen to be a library assistant, so.

—anyway, excuse me. Lilith is actually new here too, and I don't want to take up any more of Kagamine-nii's time when he's got dramatic reunions to attend to. Would you mind showing me, instead?
no subject
Okay, he can deal with this. His mother raised a gentleman after all. Gentlemen can deal with added layers of discomfort on an already uncomfortable situation. Dense layers... ]
All things considered I've no other errands to attend. So long as the location hasn't shifted, that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm sorry I'm just enjoying the interplay + Lilith being mean way too much
Ah, thank you very much. Let me just—
[ turning to wave enthusiastically in the direction of the other two, getting their attention again before pointing at Piko and herself and then off toward downtown.
Kaito, who had been keeping an eye on her the whole time, makes a face that all but screams "why are you like this?" and looks about as frazzled as Piko feels. "Lilith," on the other hand, blinks once slowly before turning a faintly dubious look Piko's way... only to glance back to Minaru, blink again, and tip her head like she's acquiescing some kind of point. ...some kind of amusing point, because when she turns to pat Kaito reassuringly on the shoulder it's with the kind of smile one might wear in response to a inside joke.
not worrying at all. ]
—all right, lllet's let you make your escape, wow.
never apologize, I love it
[ Don't have to tell him twice, especially after that. Thankfully this place is full of enough very distinctive landmarks to let him know right where they are and which direction he has to abruptly turn to start heading in the direction of the library.
Which he does, and perhaps surprisingly only waits until the very moment he thinks the other two might be out of earshot to start talking again. ]
I do apologize, sincerely, if I seemed somewhat terse. Your-- [ as if there's a weird weight on his tongue at the word, ] --brother and I, Kagamine, we've...met.

I figured as much, to be honest. It wasn't exactly difficult to read the mood.
no subject
Piko, by the way. Utatane Piko. If you'd care to start over in a different atmosphere.
no subject
Anyway. Minaru Kaiko, but you probably guessed that part.

Oh, boy, what else is new— no, I'm sorry, I'm just—
[ just giggling too helplessly to speak, apparently ]

I...take it you get that often?

[ her first impulse is really just to leave it at that—she's taken a hard and deliberate veer away from being the sort of person to explain herself unless pressed—but... it isn't like this is a topic she needs to keep secret, here.
or like she's forgotten how to use what she is to make other people uncomfortable. ]
The last, mm, year or so especially has involved a lot of— working with people to try to figure out what on Earth I am and what to do about it, more or less? With no real luck as far as concrete answers go so far because I'm "something new," so...
no subject
It's definitely enough to get him uncomfortable. ]
If I may ask, exactly how alike are you to your siblings?
no subject
Very, and not at all.
...It might make more sense to say that as far as we've been able to tell, the only real difference between our lives was that Kagamine-nii got brought here, and Lilith and I went someplace else a little later. Or— rather, Lilith got forced to go someplace else, but when the same thing happened to me I got angry enough about it to dig in my heels and stay put.
[ okay, so she's not giving up entirely on being cagey. ]

For lack of better phrasing even in his head, she looks so clean in comparison to the other two. Seems their scars had healed over but there was still a trace of them, meanwhile this one doesn't have those tells. There are a number of possible explanations--the scars are simply out of sight, she was a single corpse instead of many, some secret to the method he'd never bothered to ask the doctor when he had the chance out of spite and shame--and it's hard not to outright stare while those possibilities rattle around in his head. ]
I do hope your stay wherever you ended up was pleasant enough. Perhaps not as fickle as this one.
